Baxter's LIFE Ingredients

Baxter’s LIFE contains 7 Key Components specially chosen for your pets health.

Vitamin A from Natural Beta Carotene is an antioxidant, helping prevent and reduce the formation of damaging free radicals. Vitamin A helps dryness, hardening and itching of the skin. It also protects against infection and damage from toxic chemicals.

Vitamin D (Cholecalciferol) circulates as a hormone, regulating, among other things, the concentration of calcium and phosphate in the bloodstream and promotes healthy mineralization and strong bones.

Vitamin E (Natural d-Alpha Tocopherol) is an important lipid soluble antioxidant and protects cell membranes from oxidation.

Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) is an essential nutrient for dogs, where it functions as a vitamin and protects against oxidative stress. Dogs with proper levels of Vitamin C are less likely to develop hip dysplasia, spinal myelopathy, ruptured discs, viral disease, skin problem and common bacterial infections.

Vitamin B1 (Thiamine) is a water soluble vitamin of the B-Complex.  It is involved in many cellular processes and the catabolism of sugars and amino acids. Vitamin B1 helps dogs become more alert and intelligent. Fleas and other parasites  don’t like Vitamin B1.

Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin) is an easily absorbed micronutrient with a key role in maintaining health and energy metabolism. Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin) helps protein and fat metabolism as well as helping to  prevent cataracts in the eyes.

Vitamin B3 (Niacinamide) is an essential nutrient important for converying calories into energy. Vitamin B3 (Niacinamide) helps convert food to energy and also helps protein and fat metabolism. Vitamin B3 also controls convulsive seizures in dogs.

Vitamin B5 (D-Calcium Pantothenate) is a water soluble vitamin and an essential nutrient. Dogs require Vitamin B5 to metabolize proteins, carbohydrates and fats. Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic Acid)  is an anti-stress vitamin required for producing  antibodies, and helps longevity. Dogs deficient in Vitamin B5 can’t fight infection. Pantothenic Acid – is an anti-stress vitamin because it’s required for producing good antibodies, helps longevity. Dogs deficient in Vitamin B5 can’t fight infection.

Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine) is a water soluble vitamin and is a cofactor in managing reactions of amino acid matabolism.

Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin) is a water soluble vitamin with a key role in the normal functioning of the brain and nervous system, and for the formation of blood. Vitamin B12 may help in building stronger bigger pups that are capable of handling stress. Puppies need minuscule amounts of Vitamin B12 to stimulate appetite, weight gain and growth.

Biotin is a water soluble B complex vitamin. It is a coenzyme in the metabolism of fatty acids and leucine. Biotin helps reduce the incidence of skin disorders. Biotin also assists the thyroid and adrenal glands and aids the nervous system.

Folic Acid is also known as Vitamin B9. It is essential to numerous bodily functions and aids in cell division and growth. Dogs need folic acid to help build the immune system. Deficiency in dogs can be evidenced by erratic appetite, slow weight gain, watery secretion from the eyes and decreased antibody response to microorganisms.

Our formula includes the essential minerals calcium, copper, iodine, chromium, magnesium, manganese, molybdenum, potassium selenium and zinc as well as our naturally ocurring ionic trace mineral complex. Being ionic, and by nature electrically charged, our pets will digest these minerals much more efficiently than the larger, non-soluble colloidal form.

Lutein is a xanthophyll (yellow pigments from the carotenoid group that are widespread in nature and are present in egg yolk, algae, and petals of yellow flowers, among other sources) and one of 600 known naturally-occurring carotenoids (plant pigments responsible for bright red, yellow and orange hues in many fruits and vegetables). Found in green leafy vegetables such as spinach and kale, lutein is employed by organisms as an antioxidant and for blue light absorption.

Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is a compound found naturally in the energy-producing center of the cell known as the mitochondria. It is involved in making an important molecule known as adenosine triphosphate (ATP). ATP serves as the cell’s major energy source and drives a number of biological processes, including muscle contraction and the production of protein. CoQ10 also works as an antioxidant. CoQ10 boosts energy, enhances the immune system, and acts as an antioxidant. Clinical research suggests that using coenzyme Q10 supplements alone or in combination with other drug therapies and nutritional supplements may help prevent or treat heart disease.

DHA Omega 3 Fatty Acids - Research has proven that DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) has the ability to support brain and eye development and health in dogs. Only DHA Omega 3, the longest chain omega-3 fatty acid can provide these benefits. ALA (alpha-linolenic acid), most commonly found in flax and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid), found in fish oil are not direct sources of DHA. Since dogs are inefficient in converting these short chain omega-3′s into DHA, a preformed source, such as our DHA O-3™ is preferred. Most people believe that fish produce their own DHA, when, in fact, it’s the algae they consume from the ocean floor that makes them a rich source of DHA. Our product  bypasses the fish, and goes directly to the source – algae, avoiding any concerns of ocean-bourne contaminants.

Amino Acids are critical to life, and have many functions in metabolism.  One particularly important function is to serve as the building blocks of protiens. Amino acids can be linked together in varying sequences to form a vast variety of proteins. Twenty-two amino acids are naturally incorporated into polypeptides. Of these, 20 are encoded by the universal genetic code. Eight standard amino acids are called “essential” because they cannot be created from other compounds, and so must be taken in as food.  Due to their central role in biochemistry, amino acids are important in nutrition.

We have created a proprietary blend of botanical extracts specifically chosen to enhance your pet’s immune system. The following items are extracted using no alcohol, and as such are stable and extremely efficient:

Grape Seed (Vitis vinefera) – anti disease - arel derivatives from whole grape seeds that have a great concentration of vitamin E, flavanoids, linoleic acid and OPC’s. The typical commercial opportunity of extracting grape seed constituents has been for chemicals known as polyphenols., including  oligomeric proanthocyanadins (OPC’s) recognized as antioxidants. The flavanoids in the seed are known to reduce inflammation, and support the immune system particularly with respiratory issues, allergies, and skin problems. While grapes can be toxic to dogs, recent unpublished data indicates that the toxic component is water soluble, and within the flesh of the grape/raisin, not the seed. Thus the current thinking is that grape seed may be safe to use.

Olive Leaf (Oleaeuropaea) – immune stimulator that works by stimulating your pet’s own immune system protective cells (phagocytes) to ingest foreign invaders. Olive leaf is highly effective in eliminating microorganisms, which supports its use in almost any type of infection.

Echinacea (Echinacea purpurea) – immune stimulator- is one of the most commonly used canine immunity boosting supplements. It is well known for its beneficial effects in fighting bacteria and viruses.

Hawthorne Berry ( Crataegus) – is a tonic herb that has been used for centuries to improve cardiac function and output.  Hawthorn does not initiate any immediate changes in heart function, but does so very gently over time, without adding stress or interfering with other body functions. Hawthorn helps support the heart and cardiovascular system.

Slippery Elm (Ulmus rubra) – is a deciduous tree that can be found in the Eastern portion of the United States and Canada. The outer bark is thick and pinkish-brown in color. The leaves are lance shaped and the surface of the leaves feel like sand paper that is sticky to the touch. The inner bark is the most commonly used part, which is soft and stringy.Because of its ability to relieve inflammation, it has been used in the treatment of bronchitis, asthma and arthritis.

Fenugreek ( Trigonella foenum-graecum) – Fenugreek seeds are rich source of trigonelline, lysine and l-tryptophan and they also contain a large about of steroidal saponins and fibers. These two elements are thought to account for many benefits of fenugreek. A study has demonstrated the potent antioxidant properties of the fenugreek seeds. In the study, scientists evaluated  the protective effect of polyphenol-rich extract from the seeds of fenugreek.

Goldenseal (Hydrastis canadensis) – anti-inflammatory. Goldenseal is a member of the buttercup family that occurs in woods in the eastern  forest. Goldenseal grows from Vermont to Minnesota, south to Georgia and Alabama. Goldenseal may alleviate gastritis, ulceration, colitis and some hay fever symptoms. Goldenseal prevents bacteria from attaching to cells, stimulates the immune system and lowers fevers.

As our dogs age, stress and injury can cause wear on the joints that leads to an inflammatory reaction causing joint discomfort and pain. Our formula contains Type II Undenatured Collagen Complex that specifically helps your dog’s joint health.

Type II Undentured Collagen is the basis for articular cartilage and hyaline cartilage. It makes up 50% of all protein in cartilage and 85-90% of collagen of articular cartilage. This fibrillar network of collagen allows cartilage to entrap the proteoglycan aggregate as well as provide tensile strength to the tissue.

Superfruits contain exceptional amounts of antioxidants, anthrocyanadins and by nature have high ORAC (Oxygen Reduction Absorbance Capacity) values. These properties are very beneficial to the overall health of our pets.  Our formula contains:

Acai (Euterpe oleracea) – Brazil – polyphenols and antioxidants - The acai berry (ah-sigh-ee) grows in the Amazon Rainforest on acai palm trees and looks like a purple marble or purple grape. The acaí berry contains high levels of antioxidants also known as anthocyanins. It also contains Omega Fatty Acids (healthy fats), Amino Acids, Fiber, Iron, along with many other vitamins and minerals.

Goji Berries (Lycium barbarum) – Himalaya- polysaccharides - The Tibetan Goji and Chinese wolfberry are members of the Solanaceae plant family, the genus of both berries is Lycium. Goji berries are nutritionally rich, containing beta-carotene, Vitamins C, B1, B2 and other vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and amino acids.

Mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana) – Thailand – xanthines - Mangosteen rind has been found to have one of the highest ORAC values (oxygen radical absorbance capacity) currently reported of all edible plants. It efficiently helps block oxidation reactions in the tissues and blood, oxidation that enables free radicals to attack cells.

Noni ( Morinda citrifolia) – Hawaii – phytochemical - The Noni plant, also known as Indian mulberry, is a small tree originally from the Polynesia. Its fruit is used in products for immune enhancement, as well as it’s highantioxidant value.

Pomegranate (Punica granatum) – USA – antiviral - The fruit originally comes from the Middle East (from Iran to north India). Pomegranates are packed with antioxidants. These  fruits contain all the beneficial antioxidants, including tannins, anthocyanins, and polyphenols.
